The Great Minnesota Get Together- 2011

We had a great time at the State Fair yesterday!  The weather was absolutely perfect and the food was awesome (of course!)  It wasn't even too terribly crowded- or maybe we just know what we are getting ourselves into when we go there!
Here is the state's largest boar- His name was Husky Lee.  He is a big guy.  We also saw many adorable new babies at CHS's Miracle of Birth Center.
Something new we tried this year- Deep fried apple pie with cinnamon ice cream.  Yummy!
We also went on the Skyway across the fair.  It was a nice view of the fair, plus we got to sit for 15 minutes! : )
Of course, a trip to the State Fair would not be complete without a bucket of Sweet Martha's cookies and milk from the dairy stand.  We also enjoyed some yummy turkey and sweet corn.

Summer must really be drawing to a close now that the State Fair is here.  I am back to work starting tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to seeing all of my co-workers again.  The kids have open house on Thursday so it will be fun to meet my new students too (although there will be many I already know)!

5 years- Can you believe it!?!

Jeff and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend as we celebrated our 5 year anniversary.  Our actual anniversary is on August 12, but why not celebrate a little early!

August 12, 2006

First stop- Mystic Lake Casino
We got there around 5 and ate at the buffet.  Then we played some games... yes, I won a whopping $4.55!  I had lots of fun playing Deal or No Deal!  We won't talk about Jeff's luck!
The reason we went to Mystic Lake- The Xtreme Muzik Concert with Big and Rich and Gretchen Wilson.  They played at the new outdoor ampitheater.
It was a beautiful evening and the concert was very entertaining!  We stayed at the Park Plaza in Bloomington on Friday night.

Saturday morning we drove to beautiful Stillwater.  We stayed at the Water Street Inn right next to the St. Croix river.  We had a beautiful 2 room suite in a very historic building (from the 1890s).
We enjoyed a great view of the lift bridge from our private balcony.
Ahhh, relaxing!
Going up!

Lots of boats out on the river.

We enjoyed a Trolley Tour Saturday evening.  We were able to hear more about the city's interesting history and saw so many beautiful mansions.
A great view of the river valley from way up high!
We spent time on Saturday walking around the shops downtown and of course eating lots of great food! : )
We walked up (and down) 157 stairs to get the view of downtown and the river.  (Stillwater has 3 big staircases to get from the top of the hills to the main street and river.)

Happy Anniversary Jeff!
